Information Regarding End of Year Giving and Gifting Appreciated Stock

We are beyond thankful for your willingness to support the work the Lord is doing through Providence Church! If you feel led to participate in year-end giving, please read below for details.

End of Year Giving

  • All contributions must be received by December 31st, or mail postmarked on or before Tuesday, December 31st in order to be credited toward your 2024 giving.

  • Online giving statements will be emailed directly to you by January 31st.

Gifting Appreciated Stock

If you are considering year-end giving, one way is through appreciated stocks. While charitable giving should always be done first and foremost for charitable and not tax purposes, the Internal Revenue Code does afford a number of different tax strategies for giving. Gifting appreciated stock is one of the most effective means of tax savings available.

The benefits of gifting appreciated stock:

1. The satisfaction of knowing your money is invested in a mission important to you.

2. Capital gains taxes on the stock are avoided.

3. You will be eligible to receive an income tax charitable deduction for the full fair-market-value of the stock at the time of the gift.

Why Give?

We're Stewards of God's Stuff

Everything belongs to God - including everything he has entrusted to us. The example of the Bible, from the Old Testament to the New, is that God's people always acknowledge his ownership of our possessions.

It Fosters Generosity in the Believer

1 Timothy 6:17-18 teaches that those who have should share generously with those who do not. We are freed from greed when we release our hold on our possessions for the good of others.

It Fuels the Mission of the Church

Giving allows leaders to devote their time to ministry and still pay their bills. It supports the planting of new churches. It allows the church to fund efforts to teach, make disciples, and provide for needs at home and abroad.

It Cultivates a Posture of Surrender

We serve Christ, "who loved us and gave himself up for us" (Ephesians 5:2). Being his disciples means giving up control to him, and giving ourselves up for the sake of others.
