For this year’s Angel Tree, Providence Church will be supporting one of our ministry partners, The Timothy Initiative! This organization is passionate about planting disciple-making churches led by Indigenous Pastors throughout Africa. Through replicating a Paul & Timothy discipleship style, The Timothy Initiative can intentionally train new leaders who will make, grow, and unleash disciples within their own community. The need for churches and disciple-makers is evident and there are a large number of villages that are yet to be engaged with the Gospel. The Timothy Initiative is working daily to train indigenous leaders to reach those in their communities for the sake of the Gospel.

One form of outreach that is used to share the Gospel is screening The Jesus Film in villages. In most of these villages, watching a movie is very uncommon.

With that, when a projector is set up in a village playing The Jesus Film, the Timothy Initiative has found that it draws in people of all ages to sit and hear the Gospel. Showing this film has resulted in many lives being changed through conversations with the local Indigenous Pastor, along with many people getting connected with their new local church.

This Christmas season, Providence has a faith goal to provide enough donations to cover 10 Jesus Film Backpacks ($10,000 in donations), which provide a projector and all of the materials they need to share the Gospel.
