It's also a good place to start figuring out how you can use your gifts to serve, and to have a few tasty snacks. Baptism is the way a follower of Jesus tells the world about their new life. It symbolizes being cleansed from sin, being included in the death and resurrection of Jesus for your sins, and being connected to the people of God. We believe that baptism is a sign that a person has put their faith in Jesus, shown by being immersed in water. If you have begun to follow Jesus, but have not been baptized, it's time to come out and show the world! You can meet with someone to ask questions or to share your faith story and start the process of being baptized at Providence.

What is the meaning of church membership at Providence? Well, it's not like you're joining a club. Membership is just our word for committing to be a fully contributing partner in our church family. Members vote on major church decisions like choosing leaders and staff, and contribute to the life of the church family through giving, serving, and discipleship. Our membership process begins with Intro to Providence, a class that introduces you to our beliefs, practices, and history. Following the Intro class, you'll have the opportunity to share your faith story and talk with an elder about how God is leading you in your life today. Providence isn't a place where the elders or the staff do all the ministry - we're about equipping YOU to use the gifts God has given you to build up and disciple others. Whether it's serving coffee, telling kids a Bible story, playing an instrument or befriending students, there's a way for you to make a difference.

Discovery Groups are Bible studies and topical classes that help you dig deeper into a particular subject, in community with others. Men's and women's Bible studies, Financial Peace University, and classes on Science and Faith are just a few examples of opportunities that arise periodically.
