Take To The World
Jesus commanded his disciples take his good news to every people group on earth (Matthew 28:19-20). No matter what culture a church originates from, all followers of Jesus have the privilege and the responsibility to cross culture and geography. Providence is committed not only to sharing the gospel cross-culturally, but to planting new churches that plant new churches all over the world.
The best way to gain a passion for the nations is to go – and a short term mission trip is a great way to start. Check out where in the world Providence is active as well as the upcoming trip opportunities below or email firstname.lastname@example.org with any questions. Trips will be posted as they become available.
For over two years, Providence has been helping plant a church in the small village of San Mateo. We have taken over ten trips there and worked through the church to develop relationships with students and teachers at the local school, as well as a feeding program. During our trips, we taught children the basic tenets of the Gospel and helped the church plant grow in its evangelism efforts to unbelievers in the area. The indigenous pastor of the church has worked very hard to build relationships with the people in San Mateo and we have seen several people come to faith in Christ.
In 2003, we helped an indigenous pastor plant a church in Rio de Janeiro. Today it has over 4,000 members and is reaching people from virtually every area of the city, including professional athletes, movie stars, and political leaders, as well as some of the poorest people in the country. God has used Central Baptist Church in Barra to do some incredible things in the city and we were blessed to be part of that process. Over the past two years, we have taken some mission teams down to help engage people of so many different economic levels with the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
In January 2013, we helped another indigenous pastor plant a church in the city of Campinas. The city of Campinas is the second largest city in the state of Sao Paulo, one of the largest metropolitan areas in the world. We have taken multiple trips down to Campinas to help them engage people throughout the community with the Gospel and plan to take several more in the years to come.
In August 2014, a small team of leaders from Providence took an expeditionary trip to the subcontinent of South Asia to learn about the dozens of unreached people groups that have never heard the name Jesus. As a church, we are committed to helping raise up indigenous leaders to take the Gospel to their native people groups, just as we have been commanded in Scripture. This is one of the greatest leaps of faith we have taken as a church and our commitment to raise up people from our church to commit their lives to sharing the good news of Christ with people in some of the darkest places in the world.
The Ends of the Earth are in our backyard!
For 2016, we will not be taking any international mission trips. Instead, we will focus on reaching internationals throughout the Knoxville area in order to take the gospel to those who live, work, and play along side members of Providence Church each and every day.
